The Velvet Pioppino is native to Southern Europe commonly found growing on stumps of Poplar trees, a firm stout mushroom with velvet brow/ black cap, small unopened mushrooms possess a distinct crisp texture with a mild flavour whilst larger open caps specimens have a strong field mushroom like flavour.
